PURPOSE:To produce a thread- or belt-shaped plastically deformable polyethylene material capable of attaining a high productivity by using a general-purpose polyethylene as the raw material and the conventional extrusion equipment and to provide its production method. CONSTITUTION:This plastically deformable polyethylene material is composep of a stretched polyethylene produced by melting and then solidifying a polyethylene having <3.5dl/g intrinsic viscosity [eta], e.g. high-density polyethylene or a mixture of polyethylene and another polyolefin, stretching the solidified material so as to give plastic deformation properties thereto and having >=0.25mm thickness of the thickest part. The characteristic of this plastically deformable polyethylene material is its plastic deformation properties represented by <=20 deg. recovery angle observed when bent by either angle of 180 deg. or 90 deg.. |
