The invention relates to a fountain pen, having a barrel and a nib fixed to the tip of the barrel. In order to provide a fountain pen which can be individually adjusted to a user's personal writing attitude, the fountain pen is characterized in that the barrel is divided in the longitudinal direction into at least two sections (3, 4), each adjacent pair of such sections being capable of being releasably connected to each other in a manner such that, in the connected position, they are in a predeterminable position of rotation, relative to each other, about the longitudinal axis of the barrel, and in that the nib (2) can be releasably connected to the section (3) situated at the tip of the barrel in a manner such that, in the connected position, it is in a predeterminable relative position of rotation about the longitudinal axis of the barrel. The user can select the required components from a plurality of available nibs and barrel sections which differ in respect of size, shape, material, weight and/or surface properties, and assemble them in the position which is most favourable for him. <IMAGE>
