PURPOSE:To extend the life of a cell by supplying an electrolyte vanished from the peripheral section of the cell from the outside. CONSTITUTION:Electrode projection sections 20 made of a porous body are arranged on the reaction gas passage formed side of an anode electrode 7 and a cathode electrode 8, and the pore diameter of them are made equal to or larger than the pore diameter of the porous body forming gas diffusion electrodes 7, 8. An electrolyte 32 is fed from an electrolyte supply pipe 21 to the electrode projection sections 20, the electrolyte 32 is returned and supplied to the gas diffusion electrodes 7, 8 by the capillary effect, and the life of a fuel cell can be extended. The electrode projection sections 20 are arranged into a step shape to increase the surface areas of the electrode projection sections themselves, they are impregnated with the electrolyte 32, the accumulated quantity of the electrolyte 32 is increased for the whole fuel cell, and the life can be further extended. |
