PURPOSE:To execute margin adjustment for improving a balance between an upper and a lower balance by assigning the difference between maximum effective form length and irreducible necessary effective form length to the upper and lower margins. CONSTITUTION:The maximum effective form length M is calculated by subtracting set upper margin length and lower margin length from form length. A user sets the intended number (n) of one-page lines to calculate a line feed pitch k=M/n. When the calculated line feed pitch (k) is not in 0.5 millimeter units, the line feed pitch is rounded off to obtain a carriage return pitch k' in 0.5 millimeter units and the irreducible necessary effective form length L=k'Xn at this time is calculated. Then a value C=M-L for adjusting the settings of the upper and lower margins is calculated. Then when the value C is even, C/2 is added to the set values of the upper and lower margins respectively. When the C is odd, on the other, (C+1)/2 is added to the set value of the upper margin and (C-1)/2 is added to the set value of the lower margin. |
