The method employs the steps of switching off the fuel supply, freeing the bypass line (8), and reducing the fresh air feed. These take place at such relative time lapses, that a circulating airflow passes through the deactivated combustion chambers (1) and the bypass line. With cancellation of deactivation by switching the fuel supply back to its idling level, blocking of the bypass takes place at such a time distance before renewed switch-on of the fuel supply, that the intake tube pressure at this time has reached approx. its idling level. ADVANTAGE - Uses simple method to guarantee good fresh air filling to deactivated combustion chamber, when fuel supply is switched on again.
