Appts. for compacting thermoplastic bottles has:- (a) a chamber (1) containing the bottle B (b) a heated pin (2) over which the bottle fits and wall heaters (9) to heat and soften the bottle (B) (c) a hinged stop (31) at the fee end (2) at the rim (2) Heat supports the bottle base (F) during compaction, and (d) an axially movable pressure plate (7) resting against the bottle neck (a) that compresses the bottle. USE/ADVANTAGE - For compacting empty thermoplastic esp., PVC, bottle for recycling. Simple low cost method that does not employ hot water.
