A medicine containing a benzoic acid derivative represented by general formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and any of novel benzoic acid derivatives represented by general formulae (II), (III) and (IV), all included in general formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. These compounds have a testosterone 5 alpha -reductase inhibiting activity and are useful for preventing and/or treating prostatomegaly, prostate cancer and the like.
