The membrane (7) consists of two spaced plates (8) which enclose a stiffened paper construction formed by triangular components (10) running circularly and formed as equal angled, equilateral or right-angled triangles. The circular plates (8) are of a light plastics material, and are provided with a paper lining (9) on both sides. The membrane (7) on the peripheral side has a bulge (14) provided with a tab, which is arranged between a retention ring and a cover ring. A stay is provided with a suppressor which has through holes through which the strings of he instrument are fed to be pressed against the stay and a counter holder so that they only provoke axial loading of the membrane.
