The ink container has a main body (2) of moulded plastic with a mounting for (3) for the ink jet print head (4). An aluminium plate (5) locating on guide bolts acts as a heat sink and electrical connections to the head are made via a contact plate (7). Each print point is provided by a nozzle with an electrical electrode contact (8). The internal volume of the housing is filled with a microporous material, such as melamine-formaldehyde foam. The centre region forms a cylindrical vented space connected to atmosphere. ADVANTAGE - Provides reliable discharge without sensitivity to acceleration, temp. and pressure.
