PURPOSE:To enable monitoring of abnormality of sparks simply and continuously by arranging a fiber cable at the part where the sparks are caused and by providing at the other end of the cable a photoelectric transducing element transducing output rays into electric signals. CONSTITUTION:At the part of a rotating electric apparatus where the sparks are caused, e.g. at the part where a collector ring 1 and the brush move slidably, the fiber cable 6 is arranged with one end thereof being opposed to the part. This cable 6 is held in a bundle by a protection pipe 7 and the other end thereof is led to the photoelectric transducing element 8 such as a phototransistor. After being amplifier by an amplifier 9, the output signal of the element 8 is given to an indication and protection-from-abnormality circuit 10 which indicates the amount of the caused sparks and performs protecting motion, e.g. stopping of the operation of the rotating electric apparatus, when the amount of the caused sparks exceeds a prescribed limit. This constitution makes it possible to monitor the condition of the caused sparks easily and safely and thereby to perform safe operation of the apparatus. |
