A vehicle (1) for transporting goods, particularly a railway wagon (1) exhibits a platform (3) on which are mounted walls (5) defining at least one loading enclosure (6, 6A....6D), the said vehicle (1) exhibiting, on at least two opposite walls (5, 10) of the loading enclosure (6, 6A....6D), at least one pair of slideways (12) for the sliding of means (8) for supporting goods (7) exhibiting elements capable of interacting with the slideways (12), the said sliding being transverse with respect to the conventional longitudinal axis of the vehicle (1) and allowing the lateral loading of goods on to this vehicle (1), it being possible for this operation advantageously to take place automatically.
