PURPOSE:To provide a battery having a long lifetime by including a powder of metal Cd in a specific content with respect to Zn oxide, also including Tl oxide, and thereby forming a Zn neg. electrode plate to be used in an alkaline storage battery. CONSTITUTION:Powder of metal Cd is included 10-90wt.% with respect to Zn oxide, and also Tl oxide is added. Therein the Tl works as an additive to enhance the lifetime characteristic of a Zn neg. electrode plate, which can exert a high effect with a minor quantity by means of adding to Zn electrode with the current collectivity enhanced due to addition of metal Cd. Thereby the lifetime characteristic of Zn neg. electrode plate can be improved, and a battery with long life can be achieved. |
