PURPOSE:To improve durability by changing the engagement/disengagement combination pattern for setting a determined speed step by gear trains during setting of the speed step, and prohibiting the engagement/disengagement combination pattern change when the change from the determined speed step to other speed step is prohibited. CONSTITUTION:When D range is selected, and change from 3-speed to 4-speed is instructed, the speed change can be conducted without aggravation of gear change shock by disengaging a 2-brake a second brake means B2 and engaging a second clutch means K2, as the 4-speed pattern is an engagement/ disengagement pattern for engaging first and third clutch means K1-K3, and 3-speed is set by engaging the first clutch means K1, the third clutch means K3 and the second brake means B2. When O/DSW is on, and the throttle opening is small, the 4-speed setting is changed to the setting by engaging the clutch means K2-K4. On the other hand, as 5-speed setting is prohibited when O/DSW is off, the control is conducted to prohibit the change of the pattern for setting the 4-speed. Hence, useless change is eliminated, and durability is improved. |
