PURPOSE:To improve reliability by turning off the current to be passed to a laser so that the laser beam is not irradiated on a drum when a photosensitive body is held stopped. CONSTITUTION:The titled printer consists of a semiconductor laser modulating circuit 1, a semiconductor laser 2, a rotary polygon mirror 3, an F.theta lens 4, a photosensitive drum 5, a motor 6 for the drum, a driving circuit 7 for the motor 6 and an AND circuit 8. The drum 5 is scanned by the semiconductor laser beam in the longitudinal direction thereof and an electrostactic latent image is formed by a photoconductive characterisic. A toner which is preliminarily electrified is sprayed onto said image and thereafter the image is transferred to printing paper. Printint is executed continuously by rotating the drum 5 and changing the scanning position. The driving signal from the driving circuit 7 of the motor 6 and th modulating signal from the modulating circuit 1 for the semiconductor laser 2 are ANDed so that the modulating signal of the semiconductor laser is turned off as well when there is no driving signal of the drum. |
