PURPOSE:To obtain a stable latent image characteristic and to obtain a stable image without fogging or variation in density or line width by compensating and controlling potential of an image carrier so that a specified potential can be obtained in a developing position responding to image carrier temperature. CONSTITUTION:When power source of the image forming device is connected, room temperature is detected by a room sensor 4. Next the temperature of a photosensitive drum 1 is kept constant by peltier element 2 while the drum temperature is detected by a drum temperature sensor 3 so that the temperature of the photosensitive drum 1 becomes the room temperature +10 deg.C. When the temperature of the photosensitive drum 1 becomes a specified value, the value of dark decay at that drum temperature is selected out from a temperature versus dark decay table stored beforehand, and controlling of shadow potential is carried out with that. This control is carried out by varying a potential convergence target value at the position of a potential sensor 8 so that the potential at the developing position becomes constant. |
