1,190,501. Storage stranding machine. KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A.G. 9 Feb., 1968 [11 'Feb., 1967], No. 6490/68. Heading D1T. In the continuous storage stranding machine illustrated, the elements to be stranded are first twisted together, as at 16, and the resulting strand is then stored on a winding body 1 serving as storage means disposed co-axially to the stranding axis and arranged to rotate thereabouts in alternating senses of rotation, the strand being wound onto the body 1 by guide member 2 and off the body :1 by a further guide member 3, fixing means 11, 12 being provided for holding the lay reversal points of .the cable on the winding body 1 as the wind- ,ing is moved from one end of the body I to the other. The 'body 1 may comprise at least two endless belts 5, 6 passing around rollers 7, 8 that are themselves rotatable about the stranding axis. When the beginning of a stranded line appears at the outlet end of the storage means, the direction of rotation of the guide member 3 must be changed to prevent the stranded line from being unstranded on leaving the storage means. At the same time the relative rotation of the guide 2 and the body 1 is changed and the incoming cable secured to one of the fixing means 11, 12 which, at this stage, will be adjacent the guide 2. The fixing means 11, 12 may be pins. An inlet roller 16 can be replaced by a stranding nipple. |
