PURPOSE:To speed the access of a magnetic disk device, to stabilize its operation, and to realize small-sized, lightweight structure, by providing a rotary actuator of united structure to each disk surface independently. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of position information written on a data disk DD, heads 5 and 6 are positioned. In this case, the rotary actuator 7 constituted by uniting a head arm 3 supported rotatably by a base 9, the rotary voice coil motor 11 consisting of the base 9 and arm 3, and the heads 5 and 6 fitted to the arm 3 is provided for every disk surface DD independently. Then, coils 10 constituting a motor 11 are arrayed on a circumference at prescribed distance from the center of rotation of the arm 3 and directions of currents flowing through coils 10a and 10b are changed successively to generate a rotational force directly. |
