PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having a high photosensitivity and a wide photosensitive wavelength region at a relatively low cost by forming a carrier generating layer of a-As2Se3 and specifying the thickness thereof. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body is constituted of a photosensitive layer having the two-layered structure consisting of the carrier generating layer (CGL) 3 having a function to generate carriers by the light from a light source and a carrier transfer layer (CTL) 4 having a function to transfer the generated carriers on a conductive substrate 2 consisting of Al, etc. The CGL 3 is formed of amorphous aresenic triselenide (a-As2Se3) to a thin film of >=300Angstrom and <1mum film thickness. The a-As2Se3 has the relatively high photosensitivity in the long wavelength range and is formed at the small film thickness; in addition, the surface thereof is protected by the CTL layer 4 and, therefore, the electrophotographic sensitive body having the excellent surface characteristics without having surface defects is obtd. at the low cost. |
