The noise preventing wall has vertical columns (3) connected by horizontal cross-members (4) which both support plates (5) with a curved surface. The plates are curved (7) in a horizontal plane and are connected at their edges by overlapping bent parallel flanges (9). One edge grips the lip (14) of the adjacent plate. The edges have trapezoidal shaped features (11) which define chambers (12) in which attachment screw heads are countersunk. One end of the plate is stepped (16) to accommodate the opposite end of an adjacent plate and the plate is provided with a number of reinforcing ribs (10) on the reverse side.
