Continuously running conveyor system - has friction drive for workpiece carrier and friction force is controlled by spring pressed against friction shoe

The continuously running conveyor for transportinq workpieces has two parallel rails (4) to support the wheels (6) of the workpiece carrier (5). The workpiece carriers (5) are driven along the rails (4) by an endless chain which runs in a middle rail (3) of U-shaped cross-section. A friction shoe (8) is fastened to the underside of the workpiece carrier (5) and is pressed against a block (2) which is attached to the driving chain. The force by which the friction shoe (8) is pressed against the block (2) is determined by a spring and is less than the combined weiqht of the carrier (5) and workpiece. USE/ADVANTAGE - Each workpiece carrier can be held stationary for loading and unloading and then smoothly set in motion again.
