An automatic infinitely-variable speed adjuster is composed of two expanding pulleys linked by a belt (1). Each pulley consists of 12 sectors (2) sliding in 12 grooves (5) in each plate (6). Two control discs (9) are operated each by a pair of conical pinions (11 and 15), themselves meshed with the same rack forming part of the control shaft (12). A fork (17) has, in its centre a spring (20) which provides belt tension, or with two rollers (19) as a variant acting as a ''free-wheel''. The invention concerns motor vehicles, motor-cars in particular and industry in general.
