PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a thin recording film and to increase a carrier-to-noise-ratio by providing the recording layer consisting of layers different from each other on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A 1st layer 2 of the thin recording film which is discolored by the energy of laser light is formed on the substrate 1 having grooves 8 and the 2nd layer 3 consisting of a material colored to a color having a complementary color with the color to be changed when the layer 2 is irradiated with the laser light is formed thereon. The irradiated part of the layer 2 discolors when the laser light 5 is projected on the information recording medium formed in such a manner. The reflectivity of the discolored part 6 decreases and has a larger difference from the reflectivity of an unrecorded part 7 when the laser light for reproduction is cast on such medium and, therefore the reproduction at the large value of the carrier-to-noise-ratio (C/N) is permitted. |
