PURPOSE:To reduce a sound pressure level and restrict a discomfort feeling applied to an occupant in a room by a method wherein at least a part of an air guiding plate constituting a rear wall part of an air passage is made of a member having a sound transmission characteristic. CONSTITUTION:Each of openings 10A, 10B and 10C at each side of an air guiding plate 9 is provided with each of panels 11A, 11B and 11C having a high transmissibility of sound, i.e. noise (for example, soft resin such as nylon and polyester). During operation of an air conditioner, a noise is discharged from an axial flow fan 6 and the like. Almost of noise discharged toward the air guiding plate 9 is discharged to a rear surface side of the case 1 of the main body unit through panels 11A, 11B and 11C installed in the openings 10A, 10B and 10C. In this way, noise directed toward the air guiding plate 9 is discharged toward the rear surface of the main body case 1 at a substantial rate and at the same time they are passed through communication ports 12A and 12B and reflected back at the indoor wall surface and expanded into the room, so that a noise of the entire room is substantially decreased as compared with the case in which the noise is discharged only at the front surface of the unit. |
