PURPOSE:To easily attach and detach optical fibers to miniaturize a coupling device by using micro Fresnel lenses formed with transparent plastics as the first and second lenses to facilitate aligning optical axes of both optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:Two plate-shaped micro Fresnel lenses 3 made of transparent plastics are arranged between two optical fibers 1 which are so arranged that their end surfaces face each other. The light beams which are emitted from the end surface of one optical fiber 1 and go while spreading are collimated by one Fresnel lens 3 and is condensed on the end surface of the other optical fiber 1 by the other Fresnel lens 3 and are made incident on the other optical fiber 1. An electron beam resist is applied on a prescribed substrate, and a micro Fresnel lens pattern is drawn on the resist by electron beam drawing, and the resist is developed, and the remaining film resist pattern on the substrate is transferred to the substrate by dry etching to obtain the substrate as a female molde. Thus, micro Fresnel lenses 3 are made thin and small-sized, and a coupling part is made compact. |
