The invention relates to a construction kit for a multivariable shelf system, a room divider and the like, which consists of rectangular shelves and different-sized, box-like body elements composed of four side parts. The body elements are dimensioned so that all can be placed inside one another, for space-saving transportation. The proportions of the body elements, which form the basis of the invention and are coordinated with one another, allow a large number of possibilities of placing two or three body elements mutually opposite so that a shelf can be laid horizontally on them. The variability in the design, the space-saving packaging method and the simple, practical shape of the shelf system are the special features of the invention. The shelf system can be extended as desired using additional construction kits and shelves, and it can also be extended around a room corner at a right angle. Suitable materials are solid wood, veneer chipboards, acrylic glass and similar materials.
