Improvements relating to the handling of stacks of tea and the like bags

In a machine for handling tea bags, wherein the tea bags are fed into a magazine 66 so as to form two stacks therein and the stacks of tea bags are then moved laterally of the magazine into an inserting device Fig. 2 and the inserting device places the two stacks of tea bags into a carton, the two stacks of tea bags are pushed together prior to insertion into a carton to decrease the overall width of the stacks. As described the stacks are removed from the magazine 66 by a pusher 102 which urges them against stop ledges 108 of the insertion device.
