PURPOSE:To obtain an electronic scanning array antenna which consists of a power distribution part and digital phase shifters and whose excitation phase is so set that while a Gaussian function shape is held, beam width is expanded. CONSTITUTION:Digital phase shifters Bl to BN, connected to element antennas Al to AN arranged at element interval (d), are connected to power supply part D via power distribution part C, thereby constituting an electronic scanning array antenna. Here, a desired Gaussian-function-shaped radiation pattern of wide radial beam width is determined by a specific formula. Next, an error, expressed by another formula of an appreciation function, is minimized by a required key to solution and obtained solution (phin) is set to an excitation phase for radial beam width expansion. Consequently, the shape of the radiation pattern can be obtained which agress well to the Gaussian function and angle measurement precision in case of use for a radar is never deteriorated, so that the beam scanning time can be shortened. |
