PURPOSE:To manufacture fine metallic powder in a high yield by applying pressure to the inside of a hermetically sealable vessel contg. a molten metal with an inert gas, allowing the molten metal to flow down from a small hole in the bottom of the vessel, and atomizing it. CONSTITUTION:A metal is charged into a pressure resistant pot 1, a small hole 2 of 0.25-1mm diameter is plugged up with a stopper 3, and gaseous N2 is introduced into the pot 1 through an evacuation regulator 12. The pot 1 in a furnace 7 for heat insulation is heated with a gas burner 8 to apply pressure to the inside of the pot 1 as well as to melt the metal. The molten metal is allowed to flow down from the hole 2 by raising the stopper 3, and it is atomized with pressurized gaseous N2 spouted from wind boxes 9. The atomized metal is cooled with water in a powder recovering vessel 10.
