PURPOSE:To secure and to facilitate sterilization treatment in a succeeding stage in the heat-treatment of waste water contg. relatively large and easily separable solid matters by providing a solid matter separator to an introducing part of the waste water. CONSTITUTION:Waste water contg. solid matters is introduced into a first solid matter separator 12 through an introducing pipe 1, where the solid matters are separated by a filter 13. The separated waste water is sent temporarily to a storage tank 2 to be stored for a while and transferred to a steam sterilization tank 5 where it is sterilized with steam, for each specified amt. of the waste water, supplied from a steam pipe 7. On one hand, when the filter 13 is filled fully with the solid matters separated from the waste water, the flow of the waste water stops, which is sensed by a flow checker 15, and the solid matter separator is exchanged with a second separator 12 by the sensed signal. During exchanging, the waste water in the first separator 12 is discharged, and the solid matters in the filter 13 are sterilized by feeding steam from the steam pipe 7.
