Filter unit, as in BE 719095 contains granular filtrant, pref. polymeric material of SG 1.55, grain size 0.25-0.71 mm and porosity 55-80% and has distributor header causing flow of soln. to be filtered to top of bed, the outlets being attached to porous pipes arranged in base of bed. Regeneration is performed by fluidising filtrant with liquid flow and passing liquid, contg. mud deposits, to a unit contg. a screen formed from metal wire wound around a support. The liquid flows through screen, of cylindrical shape, and returns filtrant to filter, the granules being too large to pass through screen aperture whilst mud is removed from vessel surrounding screen. |
