The invention relates to a protective vest (100) for motorcyclists and their passengers, which vest consists of a vest-type, sleeveless, inflatable blank which can be fastened at the front and is made of a double-layer fabric which is impermeable to air, said blank a) having padded portions (20) at the front and back as rib protectors and a padded portion at the back as a spine protector, b) having in the front region (11) at least one compressed air bottle (30; 30a) whose air outlet nozzle (31; 31a) is guided into the inside space formed by the two fabric layers of the blank and whose actuating valve (32; 32a) is connected to a pull cord (35) whose free end (35a) is provided with a connection ring (36) to the motorcycle, c) being provided with protective pelvic pads (22, 22a), d) being provided with portions of the fabric layers of the blank, which are firmly connected to one another, in the lateral regions of the blank adjoining below the two armholes (14, 15), air passage openings (41, 41a) being constructed in the connecting portions (40, 40a), e) being provided with protective pads (50, 50a) in the region of the boundary edges of the armholes (14, 15), and f) having a covering-type blank which is connected to the inside space formed by the two fabric layers of the blank and rising in the manner of a collar when filled with air, with which blank the protection of motorcyclists and passengers in accidents is considerably improved. <IMAGE>
