Appts. slits an extruded polymer tube longitudinally into at least two sheets, each sheet then being applied to a die and cut to the desired shape. The thickness of the sheet can be programmed according to the shape of the finished prod. One or more rectangular coplanar cutters are mounted beneath the exit slit of the extruder. Each cutter is attached elastically to the extruder head so that it is in contact or close to either or both the die or mandrel. Screws permit adjustment of the cutter. The cutter may be chilled to prevent the plastic sticking. The vertical parts of two deflectors are fixed to the cutter. The deflectors are to separate the sheets of polymer. The deflectors may have guides or vanes.
