An apparatus for drawing constant quantities of liquid from a basin, consisting of an inlet tube which can be pivoted up and down and has an inlet mouthpiece carried by floats, has, behind the mouthpiece, a rear-ventilated throttle point of variable throttle cross-section, which is formed by a throttle element, e.g. pivoting flap, adjustable from outside. The mouthpiece is preferably widened in the shape of a funnel, in such a way that its opening edge lies, in every operating position, deeper than the lower edge of the throttle cross-section.
