PURPOSE:To easily obtain the insulating substrates of a liq. crystal cell by printing a prescribed pattern on each of insulating substrates using an org. zinc compound soluble in an org. solvent and by removing the org. components from the pattern by calcination to form a transparent insulating film of zinc oxide. CONSTITUTION:An org. zinc complex contg. zinc coordinated to acetylacetone is used as an org. zinc compound, and cellulose nitrate is added as a thickener. They are dissolved in an org. solvent, and using the resulting paste a prescribed pattern is printed on each of insulating substrates by screen printing. The org. solvent and the thickener are then removed from the pattern by calcination to form a transparent insulating film of zinc oxide. After forming an orienting layer on the ZnO film, rubbing is carried out so that the orienting directions of upper and under substrates meet at right angles, a gap is left between the substrates, and a liq. crystal is sealed in the gap. Thus, a liq. crystal display cell is easily obtd. |
