PURPOSE:When mending the surface of a high carbon steel chip, to prevent the surface crack due of the steel chip due to the mending, by performing the grinding while cooling the contact face between a grindstone and the steel chip. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 5 for ejecting the cooling water toward the working face of a grindstone 1 of a self-travel grinder 3 is arranged then the surface of a high carbon steel chip 8 having the carbon equivalent higher than 1.14 is mended through the grinding by means of said grinder. When mending the cooling water is ejected through the nozzle 5 toward the grinding face during the work thus to cool forcefully. |
