PURPOSE:To prevent the overheating when cooling water becomes insufficient, by increasing the number of rotations of a water pump based upon the output of a water level sensor for detecting the water level of a radiator when the water level becomes at a prescribed level or below. CONSTITUTION:A radiator 3 is connected via a cooling water passage 2 to a water jacket formed to a cylinder block 4 of the engine 1, and cooling water is circulated through it by a water pump 7 that is driven by a motor 11. A controller 9 for controlling the motor 11 is provided with an engine rotational frequency sensor 12, a suction pressure sensor 13 and a water level sensor 14 including a float 14b, a potentiometer detector 14a and a detector 14a connected to the radiator 3, so that when the water level is at a prescribed level or below, it is detected by the sensor 14 to increase the rotational frequency of the water pump 7. |
