A cutting tool comprises a holder body 1 having an insert receiving recess 2 in which an insert 6 having square spaced parallel surfaces 9, 10 and a concave peripheral surface is clamped by means of a pin member 13, the two wall faces 4 and 5 of the recess being provided with support members 24 which co-operate with two adjacent sides of the peripheral surface. The respective support members are pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the surface of the wall faces 4 and 5 of the recess to permit accurate alignment with the concave surfaces of insert. The concave peripheral surface of the insert may be arcuate or formed by two inclined planar surfaces 7, 8. The support members 24 are in cross-section segmental in shape. |
