<p>PURPOSE:To prevent transfer sheet from detaching from the conveying member by charging the conveying member to the same polarity as the charging polarity of the toners deposited on an image carrier by prechargers. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a transfer sheet 6 is charged by prechargers 9, 10 to the polarity opposite from that of the voltage to be applied to a transfer charger 11, that is, to the same polarity as the charging polarity of toners 4. Namely, when the toners 4 are charged negative as shown in the figure, the prechargers 9, 10 charge the surface of the transfer sheet 6 negative. If the charging polarity is beforehand selected in this way, the charging polarity that the prechargers 9, 10 charge the surface of the transfer sheet 6 and the polarity of the charging potential with may remain on the surface of the transfer sheet 6 after having passed the transfer charge coincide and the transfer sheet 6 is strongly attached to the surface of the conveying member 3, whereby the transfer sheet 6 is prevented from being detached from the conveying member.</p> |
