PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antioxidant derived from an easily available and inexpensive natural product and having powerful antioxidant action. SOLUTION: This antioxidant is a new one containing, as the active ingredient, a crude extract obtained by extracting banana leaves with hot water, an organic solvent or an organic solvent/hot water mixture, desirably an adsorbate component obtained by allowing the crude extract to be adsorbed by a styrene/ divinylbenzene synthetic resin or a dextran synthetic resin and eluting the adsorbate from the resin. It has an antioxidant effect still more excellent than that of α-tocopherol known as an antioxidant or green to a extract. |
