The manual control for vehicle headlamps allows compensation for vehicle loading etc. Control is effected from within the vehicle by two Bowden cables running over two small drums or capstans depressing a lever (7) on top of each lamp (1) to raise them against springs (5) attached to their lower surface. Each lamp pivots about a point (4) on its upper front surface. The cables are controlled from the dashboard by a doubly grooved drum operated by the driver the cables being wound on it in opposite senses. Each lamp has a similarly groove drum (8) with the cables again wound in opposite directions through the two grooves. Cable tension is maintained by springs between the cable sheath and the drum housing, the drum driving a control rod bearing on the headlamp lever.
|
