Single rope self dumping grab - has catch engaging with protrusion with head in lower position

The single-rope grab dumps automatically on setting down; it has conventional jaws (8), bars (7), a cross-member (4) and a jaw cross-bar (9). The member and the foot (6) are fixed together by a guide bar (5) for the cross-bar and head (3). In the lower position of the head (3) the catch (10) engages a protrusion (11), so that the jaws open on lifting. The surface between the catch and protrusion can be inclined at more than 15 deg., to prevent release when lifting an empty grab.
