Each half axle joint is fitted with a damping device (10) which comprises working together with the rolling joint (10) which comprises a hydraulic cylinder (14) with both-ended piston rods (13) and piston (16) dividing the cylinder space into equal volume chambers (19, 19a). The two chambers are interconnected by a bypass pipe (18) fitted with hand operated control valve (17) with adjustable spring pressure. The cylinder is fitted to the vehicle frame by a swivelling joint (15) and one end of the piston rod is joited to an arm (11) fitted to the hollow rolling joint. During normal travel the valve is fully open and the hydraulic fluid freely circulates between the two chambers in accordance with the swinging motions of the half axles. If it becoms necessary to fix the half axle in a certain position, the valve is closed by hand preventing fluid circulation and resulting in a rigid position of the half axle.
