The invention concerns an arrangement for preventing release of contaminated gas into the atmosphere from a nuclear reactor during a reactor accident, which arrangement comprises at least one tunnel 2 to receive the gas developed during the accident, wherein one end of the tunnel is connected to the reactor bay 1, while the other end of the tunnel communicates with the atmosphere 3. In order for there to be little mixing between the gas developed during the accident and the gas originally present in the tunnel, the tunnel according to the invention is filled with pieces of a solid material to form an interconnected system of pores whose volume is greater than the volume of the gas developed during the accident. <IMAGE> |
