<p>PURPOSE:To make easy and sure the feed of the rolled material into next and following stands, by controlling functionally the speed of the rolling roll in plural stands, and by cotrolling the draft depending on the draft control signal. CONSTITUTION:The functionally setting draft controller 11 controls the draft of the screw down device 8 depending on the draft control signal. That is, the draft position is S1 at the normal state of the former pass A; the draft is started at the point (a) a specified time before the pass through point (by the rolling roll 3 of the second stand), so as to continue the reduction of the draft position, passing over the pass through point as mentioned above, until the draft position comes to the point (b) (condition B) which is lower than the draft position S3 at the normal state of the next pass. The feed for the following next pass is carried out at the condition of the draft position S2, and then, the draft position is gradually increased up to the point (c), where the draft position is fixed at the scheduled normal draft position S3; under this condition,the normal rolling for the next pass is carried out. The rear end of the rolled material 1 is thinned by the increased draft of the roll 3, and is turned back, is inserted into the roll 3, and is further rolleed into thin, tapering shape.</p> |
