Car servo brake has a main piston in a cylinder and an axially aligned pressure cylinder linked via an axially aligned adapter to the brake piston. A pressure member connected to the pedal operates a linkage controlling the main slide feeding the pressure cylinder. A pressure failure preventer is formed from stops which directly control the member and thus the main piston in the event of failures. The linkage has an arm positively connected to the slide at one end and otherwise pivoted by a journal on the piston linking adapter. The preventer pref. includes a stop face mounted into the pressure member and co-operating with the joint. The adapter is pref. coupled to the pressure piston through a one-way connector.
