Low density slabs are made by blending chipped polyurethane foam with a binder resin and moulding or extruding the mixture to shape. The binder may be a liquid or a powder material, opt. includes a blowing agent and is expanded by the effects of heat within the mould. The binder resin may also be a polyurethane resin or a thermoplastic resin. If properly blended, a highly regular composite structure is obtained. Used for coverting recovered or scrap foam pieces to 2 regular, useful form which is coherent, e.g. for sound absorbant paving slabs. |
