1291984 Hydraulic reciprocating pumps and motors SUNDSTRAND CORP 18 Nov 1969 [19 Feb 1969] 56494/69 Heading F1A The fixed valve plate 52 controlling the supply and exhaust of liquid through ports 51b to and from cylinder 23, 24 in a rotary cylinder block 14 of a swash plate pump or motor is provided with inlet and outlet ports having tapered groove portions 76, 86 which communicate with each cylinder port 51b before the piston in its associated cylinder reaches its respective extreme end position. This arrangement reduces the shock waves which occur and thus reduces noise. The valve plate shown is of a pump and has an inlet section 68 and an outlet section 70. The inlet section is in the form of one or more circumferentially spaced arcuate slots 83, 84, 85 and a circular through bore 81 into which leads the tapered groove portion 76. The outlet section 70 is similar to the inlet section and comprises one or more arcuate slots 90, 91, 92, bore 88 and tapered groove portion 86. The tapered groove portions 76, 86 taper in depth as well as width. |
