The connecting rod for aircraft control systems is in the form of a tube made of carbon fibres embedded in a suitable synthetic resin. The ends of the tube are reduced in diameter to form cones with an undulating surface. As the diameter decreases the wall thickness increases in order to maintain the same number of fibres. A threaded metal bush with a flared end is bonded inside the conical end and is secured by circumferential winding of additional fibres. The fibres are enclosed in a collet which fits flush with the flange of the bush. |
