Multiple effect stripping device is intended for stripping ingot moulds resting on a stool, some being of the big-end-up type. The device includes a cross member, suspended from the pulleys of the lifting cables, on which a number of successive stripping devices are mounted to move vertically with respect to the cross member. Each of the stripping devices is identical and consists of a pair of ingot tongs, two retaining rods, an upper and a lower housing for the mechanism of the apparatus, as well as actuating elements for operating the tongs in the removal of the ingot from the ingot mould. Between the cross piece and each stripping device a number of hydraulic or pneumatic shock absorbers are mounted; they allow of an upwards displacement without resistance in the case of a normal previously established speed, but if the speed excess normal - if the ingot is detached too rapidly - they retard the ascent of the apparatus and deaden its return fall to the normal position. The stripping devices can be actuated successively by the intervention of a time relay. The mechanism for lifting and lowering the cross piece supporting the devices can be locked in position during the de-moulding operation. |
