摘要 Disclosed is a biochip, a system for processing a biological sample, a method of manufacturing a biochip, a method of performing sample-in to result-out automated electrophoresis, a system for providing at least two types of sample-in to results-out processing for at least one biological sample and a reagent storage container. The biochip which upon insertion into an electrophoresis instrument which has a pneumatic, thermal, high voltage and optical subsystems and a process controller generates a nucleic acid sequencing or sizing profile from at least one sample. The biochip comprises a microfluidic processing subassembly; a fluidic subassembly and a separating and detection sub-assembly. The microfluidic processing subassembly is in connection with a fluidic subassembly and a pneumatic subassembly comprising at least one chamber adapted to receive a sample. The fluidic subassembly comprises a fluidic plate and at least one fluid transport channel and an amplification chamber adapted to connect to the thermal subsystem. The pneumatic subassembly is adapted to connect to the pneumatic subsystem of the electrophoresis instrument and to the subassemblies of the biochip. The pneumatic subassembly comprises a pneumatic plate ad one or a plurality of drive lines to pneumatically drive fluids on instruction from the process controller. The separation and detection subassembly is adapted to connect to the high voltage and optical subsystems and process controller on the electrophoresis instrument. The separation and detection subassembly comprises a separation channel, and a detection region positioned to send signals from each of the said channels to the optical subsystems on the instrument.
